Overview

Joe McGuire Designs is a nationally recognized interior design practice based in Aspen, Colorado, known for a distinctive approach that balances classical structure with contemporary material sensibility. For this ground-up Palm Beach residence on a $7 million lot, McGuire brought that vocabulary fully to bear — a home defined by monumental stonework, custom millwork, and a level of finish detail that demands documentation equal to the work itself.

Philippe Lasry Photography was commissioned to document the completed interiors prior to client delivery. The brief was straightforward: capture the full breadth of the design at its most pristine, before occupancy.

The Property

Pre-delivery documentation operates under a different set of pressures than a standard listing shoot. The property is at its most perfect — every surface immaculate, every detail in its intended position — but the window is narrow. There is no second visit once handover begins.

334 Chillean presented an unusually high density of design moments across multiple floors: the black and white marble entry with its custom brass stair rail, the dramatic barrel-vaulted corridor, a full-slab bar in Calacatta marble, a chef's kitchen with stone surround and reeded island, and a series of bathrooms with distinct material identities. Capturing all of it with the care each space deserved — within a single compressed production day — required precise sequencing and no margin for error.

Strategy & Execution

01
Deliberate Sequencing

The shoot was structured to move through the property in a deliberate sequence — establishing the entry and primary circulation spaces first, then working through the principal rooms before finishing with the detail and material close-ups that give the documentation its depth.

02
Design-First Compositions

Every space was approached as a design object, not a room to be photographed. Compositions were chosen to honor the architect's proportions and the designer's material choices — the way the checkerboard marble reads against the brass rail, the veining continuity across the bar surround, the compression and release of the vaulted corridor opening onto the bedroom wing.

03
Material & Detail Coverage

Beyond the architectural compositions, a complete set of material close-ups documented the finish quality that defines the design — Calacatta marble slabs, custom brass hardware, reeded millwork, and the craftsmanship detail that distinguishes the work at a portfolio level.
