Architecture Photography That Wins Work and Earns Press

Every completed building is a business development tool. The photography you put in front of award juries, editorial directors, and prospective clients either communicates the design intent — or fails to. Philippe Lasry has spent two decades learning the difference, and building a technical practice — from perspective-controlled tilt-shift optics to multi-strobe interior lighting — specifically designed to make architecture read the way its architects intended.

The work is built around three deliverables: images that get shortlisted by AIA, RLI, and other juried programs; feature-quality photographs that editorial directors at Architectural Record, Dezeen, and Interior Design will actually use; and portfolio images that make your next prospective client choose you over the competition. If any one of those matters to your firm, let's talk.

Architectural Photographer FAQ

What's the difference between architectural photography and real estate photography?

Architectural photography is built around the design intent of the building — the way the architect made decisions about mass, light, material, and sequence. Real estate photography is built around the buyer: wide angles, bright rooms, listing-ready formats. The two disciplines use similar tools but serve entirely different audiences. Our architecture work is intended for design press, award submissions, and firm portfolios, not MLS listings.

How far in advance should I book?

For a full-day architecture commission, 2–4 weeks' lead time is standard. We use that time to review drawings, study the building's solar orientation, coordinate staging and cleaning, and build a detailed shot list. For time-sensitive award deadlines or press requests, we can often accommodate shorter lead times — call us directly.

What does a standard architecture shoot include?

A full-day commission typically covers all primary exterior elevations; key interior spaces including entrance, primary rooms, circulation, and notable design moments; material and detail close-ups; and a twilight or blue-hour session if the building warrants it. Aerial perspectives are integrated where the brief calls for it. We deliver a fully edited gallery within 3–5 business days.

Do you photograph projects outside Miami?

Yes. We are based in Miami and serve South Florida as our primary market, but we travel nationally for destination projects and returning clients. Travel fees apply for projects outside the Miami metropolitan area.

Do you require architectural drawings before the shoot?

Yes, and it makes a significant difference in the quality of the work. Reviewing floor plans and elevation drawings before the shoot allows us to identify the key design moves, plan the shot list around the architecture's logic, and schedule each space in its optimal light. We treat pre-shoot research as part of the commission.

What file formats and licensing do you deliver?

We deliver full-resolution TIFF originals, high-resolution JPEGs formatted for print, press, and digital use, and social-ready crops. All images are delivered with a full commercial license covering portfolio, awards, press, and marketing use. Extended licensing for international publication and long-form campaigns is available.
